moxa (aka mugwort) which provides warmth at specific acupuncture
points. Moxibustion has unique healing properties as it warms the
area, increases circulation, and alleviates pain. Practitioners
of Oriental Medicine also use moxibustion to prevent illness and
increase vitality.
Cupping
Cupping is a technique that is useful to alleviate pain and is also
used to treat the common cold, flu and cough. The cups are round
and are usually made of glass. The cups are warmed inside, which
creates a vacuum. The cups are then placed over the selected area,
which is usually on the patient's back. |
